Ethiopian and Ghanaian diaspora received entrepreneurial training

Some members of EPN have participated in an exciting entrepreneurial training. The training, that has run for five consecutive Saturdays starting from Sept. 7 is part of the ED4D project that aims at encouraging Ethiopian and Ghanaian diaspora living in the Netherlands to engage themselves as entrepreneurs in their respective countries.

The twenty trainees, comprising of ten diaspora entrepreneurs from each country, had compelling business ideas that were either at a start-up phase or scale-up phase. The diversity of the business ideas were rather impressive – spanning a wide range of industries such as agriculture, IT, entertainment, tourism & hospitality, construction, manufacturing, health, and etc.

In addition to receiving training on a comprehensive set of entrepreneurial skills (covering business model development, financial model development, product design and development, HR & leadership, communication, and crowdfunding), the entrepreneurs also had the chance to network and have fun!

At the end of the trainings, there was a captivating competition where the entrepreneurs pitched their business ideas before a jury of ambassadors from the two countries and some experts. Guess what? Two of the three winners of the pitch competition are EPN’ers!

Certainly, this training is an important enabler to realize EPN’s aspiration to engage in the development of Ethiopia through entrepreneurship. We thank our partner IOM for inviting us to participate in the training.
